Sikes on Delcos on Willie

Bob Sikes on Getting Paid To Watch gives props to John Delcos for keeping it real on his blog for The Journal News.

I’m a fan of John as well. He’s one of the few mainstream writers who ‘get’ what blogging is all about.

As far as Willie’s treatment of Milledge, i’m not ready to read so far into it. Willie likes to get all his players in there so when called upon, they’re not coming in cold. This is a team in every sense of the word, and Willie is responsible for that. Milledge will get plenty of playing time, people get too wrapped up in the day to day and forget the bigger picture.I’m more confused about batting Newhan second today, but I suppose Willie’s rational there was to get Newhan to see more strikes. Gotay has shown the ability to get on base without the luxury of needing to bat in that slot. I don’t agree with it 100%, but I understand what he might be trying to do there.
